Course Summary
Orchestrate for Integrations
Orchestration basics
Workday Orchestrate allows you to build flows that manipulate data. In this chapter we are going to check the available learning resources, documentation, and tools. We will also learn how to use the basic building blocks of a flow. There are multiple Orchestration templates, such as Synchronous Orchestration, Asynchronous Orchestration, Workday Business Process, Workday Home Card and Workday Integration System. This course is focused on the Workday Integration System template, however many components are shared between multiple templates, so you will be able to apply the knowledge to your other projects. Please keep in mind that those additional templates fall under specific SKUs, such as Workday Extend.
Loops, ERRORS, and Files
Every process can encounter an error. When that happens, the error should be handled accordingly. We will also learn how to use loops and interact with files. You should now be familiar with the Save button; the activity instructions will no longer remind you to Save your changes.
Advanced concepts
Learn how to merge data sets that have a common field to create matches that can be processed using a special loop – the Join Loop. We will also build a flow that loads data to Workday based on the result of an API call.
Appendix – Data Initialization Service – DIS
The Data Initialization Service (DIS) is a Workday integration service that enables custom integrations to efficiently extract data using Workday report fields. It uses Document Builders to navigate related business objects, retrieve only the required data, and improve integration performance. DIS also supports parallel data extraction, reusable configurations across multiple integrations, and nested data structures for handling complex business data efficiently.
